Job Summary:

Valley Forge Insurance Brokerage (VFIB) is a nationwide wholesaler and a division of Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY). VFIB specializes in writing the coverages that PHLY does not offer. This includes Workers’ Compensation, Inland Marine, Wind & Hail Deductible Buy-down and other specialty coverages.

This position is responsible for brokering out non-PHLY products. Extensive interaction with independent insurance Agents, Brokers and Carriers. Broad product knowledge of the PHLY's product is needed to properly educate agents on why to place the business with our brokerage. Review insurance applications to evaluate, classify and rate applicants for insurance and accept or reject applications within delegated underwriting authority by performing the following duties.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite and price business according to delegated underwriting authority and guidelines. Refer accounts outside of underwriting authority to the appropriate brokered market manager with recommendations.
  • Examine documents such as application forms, website, brochures and past claims, financial reports and contracts to determine degree of risk from such factors as financial standing and loss experience.
  • Follow all standard Operating/Production procedures and Code of Business Conduct as defined by management making continuous recommendation for improvement. Document all brokered business policies via salesforce.
  • Communicate with field representatives/independent agents by following Marketing procedures to obtain further information quote rates and/or communicate company underwriting policies.
  • Determine whether to accept, modify or decline risks by following product guidelines. Calculate standard rates and premium charges from approved filings.
  • Maintain adequate file documentation and justification for all credits and debits (when applicable).
  • Review and approve changes or questions on coverage or exposures.
  • Enter all accounts into (AMS) upon binding and inputting all bound business on a weekly basis as reported on new business reports.
  • Works alongside Brokerage Manager in weekly and monthly new business pipeline meetings.
  • Assist Brokerage Manager with Carrier/MGA relationship management by conducting analysis with Brokerage Manager and Team Lead(s).
  • Conduct weekly meetings with Brokerage team in evaluating pipeline. Assist in sales execution, and monitor the execution of follow ups and sales of Brokers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree; minimum 5 years’ industry, sales or underwriting experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
  • P&C License, required
  • AINS, ASLI preferred
