Location: Roswell Type: Full-Time; Hybrid In-Office 2 days/Remote 3 days Compensation: $70k-$85k plus annual discretionary bonus potential Meet the Leadership Team: Patty Quina Carlie Bennink Jacquelyn Cox About the Role: The E&S Underwriter is a key member of the PURE Programs Underwriting team. This role will be primarily accountable for underwriting High Value Home, surplus lines risks in the Northeast through PURE Programs, including utilizing PURE Specialty Exchange (PUI’s E&S reciprocal exchange). The primary goal of this position is to profitably grow a book of business by actively partnering with brokers and working effectively with colleagues throughout the organization. This person will plan and budget for the book of business, develop and maintain agency relationships, and execute underwriting decisions. Who You Are: You are empathetic, passionate, intellectually curious and a team player that never hesitates to help. You have a heart of service and enjoy cultivating solid and impactful relationships with broker partners. You think outside the box with ease, and you are energized by finding creative solutions to meet the needs of current and potential members. When it comes to making decisions on risks, you use the information you have gathered alongside the underwriting guidelines to determine whether to bind or not. Taking ownership and always following through come naturally. You have a strong understanding of the market, and a clear view of how to manage a healthy book of business. What You'll Need: You have at least 3 years of P&C insurance experience, preferably underwriting in the high net worth space. Excess and surplus lines property underwriting experience and/or underwriting experience in a managing general agency (MGA) operation is a plus! You are comfortable owning a book of business. Direct, empathetic communication is a staple in every aspect of your day, and you thrive on building connections with people. You know how to gather and analyze all the data you’ll need to make a decision on a risk. You work with pride and determination. What You’ll Do: No matter the role, delivering exceptional service is the priority in everything we do at PURE. As an underwriter, this looks like: Business Management: Reviewing your book of business, tracking performance, and analyzing market conditions and competition. Broker Partnership: Building and managing broker relationships, developing goals and strategies, and collaborating to craft tailored solutions for members. Underwriting Execution: Oversee new and renewal underwriting, select risks per company guidelines, and ensure timely follow-up and closing of accounts. Hear From Our Team: “One great aspect of being on the underwriting team at PURE is you get the opportunity to collaborate with all aspects of our business. Being directly involved with how we grow and improve our membership is extremely fulfilling. I love how PURE allows underwriters to manage their book of business like a franchise, which gives our underwriters invaluable organization and relationship building skills.” - Jamil Ahmed, Regional Underwriting Manager (New England) An Average Week: Well, there’s nothing average about PURE, and our Underwriting role is no exception. We’re all on the same team working together to provide the highest quality insurance experience to our membership! So, while our excellent service groups work diligently to serve our brokers and membership with standard requests, you’ll manage the higher complexity endorsements and review inspections. And as PURE's gatekeeper, protecting our membership will remain top of mind when you quote and bind new business and renewals. Since relationships are the name of the game for our Underwriters, you’ll also work closely with our Territory Managers to develop meaningful broker relationships through virtual and in-person meetings. Our Commitment to You: First and foremost, PURE starts by setting YOU up for success! When you come on board as an Underwriter at PURE, you will be joining a dynamic team that values innovation, offers continuous learning opportunities, and provides the tools, training, and ongoing support needed to thrive. You’ll also receive a complete set of home office equipment to make working remotely a breeze. Compensation Package: The base salary for this role can range from $70K - $85K, based on a full-time work schedule. An individual’s ultimate compensation will vary depending on job-related skills and experience, geographic location, alignment with market data, and equity among other team members with comparable experience. You will also be eligible for annual merit-based increases and discretionary bonuses. A Culture of Development: Company culture is more than free lunches and swag (although we love those, too!). At PURE, all employees have regularly scheduled 1X1’s with their manager. That’s because feedback is a gift and everyone at PURE strives to be better than the day before. We also invest in our employees’ professional and personal development through training and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), so when new career opportunities become available, we look internally first. Commuter Support: Commuting can be expensive. That’s why we offer additional support of $100 per month to those who commute into a PURE office three days or more a week. An Awesome Benefits Package: Flexible PTO, student loan debt repayment, tuition reimbursement, and a Headspace membership are just some of the unique benefits that PURE offers.
